1957 12 Hours of Sebring with Corvette
John Fitch & Gaston Andrey were competitors and friends on the road racing scene. John Fitch was the Corvette Team manager & lead driver working with Zora Arkus-Duntov. John Fitch asked Gaston Andrey to co drive with Dr Dickie Thomspon in the Chevrolet Corvette C1. In addition he would co drive with John Fitch & Piero Taruffi in the new experimental Corvette SS 1
Gaston Andrey & Dickie Thompson won the GT5.0 class and finished 12 overall against very competitvie field of entries

General Motors had four Corvettes entered in the 1957 Sebring race. Two were production and two were modified. In this photo the white car is one of the production cars and the red one, with fin, is one of the modified and known as an SR-2.
The Corvette SS 1 broke down early in the race. Gaston Andrey did not get a chance to drive the car in the race, only had practice time
